Proficiency Trips

Long-range IFR proficiency trips

Take your flying skills to the next level with a long-range IFR cross-country proficiency trip. After obtaining their instrument rating, many pilots don't feel ready to take on the challenges of long-range IFR. Between unusual procedures, flight planning, and weather conundrums, multi-day cross-country trips can be challenging to navigate.

We'll design a tailored multi-day trip so you can build your confidence to effectively navigate the IFR system and fully leverage the utility of the airplane, teaching you real-world planning, execution, and in-flight decision-making.

How It Works

Itinerary Design

Depending on your desires and training objectives, we will design an itinerary around interesting airports and procedures. A few days before the flight, we will review the itinerary and plan for any weather challenges.

Aircraft

Trip can be conducted in your aircraft, or I can help arrange Cirrus SR20-G6 rental.

Ground Training

Included in the trip are preparatory sessions to review topics you desire to work on, as well as a practical review of some of the procedures we're intending to fly.

Rates

Proficiency trips are billed at a day rate, plus lodging and meal expenses.

Typical Training Day

Expect 4-8 hours of flying per day, as well as briefing and debriefing sessions.
