Flight Training
Top-notch training for real-world proficiency and safety
I am a CFI, CFII, and MEI. My primary focus is training towards the Instrument Rating as well as Instrument proficiency / long-range cross-country training. I also conduct training towards the FAA Private and Commercial certificates for ASEL/AMEL, as well as aircraft type and G1000 transition. I offer training in Cirrus SR, Cessna C172/C182, Columbia/Cessna 400/TTx, and Diamond DA40/DA42. Training can be accomplished in your aircraft, or I can help arrange Cirrus SR20-G6 rentals. I conduct most of my training out of the Caldwell - Essex County airport, but am available to travel upon request.
My Approach
Start with rock solid fundamentals
Success in aviation starts with a strong foundation. I emphasize mastering the core elements of flight, such as positive aircraft control, precise attitude flying, and consistent instrument scanning. Using a variety of exercises and flight patterns, layered with workload management exercises, we'll build the essential skills needed to execute flight procedures with confidence and precision.
Learn real-world skills
My goal is to train pilots to standards well above the minimum required by the Airmen Certification Standards, making you a safe and effective participant in the IFR system. I put special emphasis on thorough pre-flight preparation, developing standard operating procedures tailored to your mission, and enhancing your in-flight workload management and decision-making skills.
A proficient pilot is a knowledgeable pilot
In aviation, superior knowledge drives superior outcomes. I prioritize building a deep understanding of flight principles, regulations, and procedures so that you're not only proficient in flying but also well-prepared to handle diverse scenarios with confidence.
Excellent training resources
To make flight training as practical and efficient as possible, I use a variety of resources—such as simulators, procedures guides, flight planning apps, and personalized ground school presentation. With a combination of self-study and ground sessions, these tools ensure you gain a deep understanding of both the theory and hands-on skills needed to fly with confidence.
Radical candor
I believe in high standards and clear, honest, two-way communication. This means open, constructive feedback from me to you, and you to me. This approach fosters trust, growth, and continuous improvement in your flight training journey.
